What is IELTS?

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) measures the language proficiency of people who want to study or work wherever English is used as a language of communication. The levels used in identifying the proficiency of IELTS candidates are from non-user (score of 1) to expert user (score of 9) .The IELTS test is NOT available online. However it is available at more than 1,200 locations worldwide and there are 48 test dates per year.

Band Descriptions

All 4 language skills, reading, listening, speaking, writing are tested in the IELTS test. You cannot fail the test. It is designed to assess your proficiency. Your overall score is the average of the score achieved in each part of the test.

Each band conveys a different message to you regarding your proficiency in the language. They are the levels of how expert or non-expert you are in using English language. These levels can be explained as:-

9 – Expert language usage
8.5 – Almost an expert language usage
8 – Excellent language usage
7.5 – Very good language usage
7 – Good language usage
6 – Competent language usage
5 – Modest language usage
4 – Limited language usage
3 – Extremely limited language usage
2 – Irregular usage of language
1 – Non-user
0 – Test not taken

This course contains 20 learning hours.

Assessment Method

The course contains 6 units and at the end of each unit there are tasks to complete and submit to your tutor. The tasks for each unit are graded and once all 6 units have been completed the average grade is calculated and this is the final grade that will appear on your certificate.
